3 of the men who once lived in a Martinsburg B&B building: a mayor, a coal dealer, and a Civil War veteran
A sparkling bed and breakfast that houses an art gallery and event space would be all but unrecognizable now to its former occupants.
One of Martinsburg’s historic homes, a stately brick duplex at 127-129 West Burke Street, was recently converted into a bed and breakfast. The Journal published a feature about the property in 2023, and there’s also a YouTube video showing some of the renovated interior.
I didn’t discover this article, nor was I aware of the existence of the Apple B&B, until after I had researched some of the families who called this building — the former Oden house — home starting over 100 years ago.
