A user on Ancestry .com says this home, built in 1900, belonged to Jonathan William Smith (1888-1957). He was a large landowner in the Gerrardstown district.
His holdings included:
A 172-acre farm known as the “Dave Stuckey Farm,” which he left to his 2nd wife in his will.
The 182-acre “Dan Stuckey Farm,” which he left to his daughter Elsie Brown.
His “home place” property of about 165 acres, willed to his son James.
The 120-acre Catrow Farm, left to his son William.
He also owned:
A 3/4-acre hunting camp in Grant County, outside Bayard. This was willed to his son James as well.
A lot in the Rothwell and Lovett Addition in Martinsburg, left to William.
